James Tianzon is the missionary assigned in Bakun, Benguet. He is supported by a team of newly trained missionaries - who are currently conducting an evangelism program in one of the baranggays. The Kankana-ey project has seven baptized members. Four are active at present.  The missionaries see to it that they are given the right training. Here are the accomplishments of the missionares for 2010: The missionaries taught the members’ church programs that would make their worship meaningful. They conducted a seminar on How to answer Questions and Objections on SDA doctrines. They have 15 Bible interests who are being prepared for the Reaping crusade on April 2011.  They use the house of one of the converts during Midweeks, Vespers, and Sabbaths for worship. Last June 19, 2010, Mountain Provinces Mission (MPM) recognized Kankana-ey SDA Church as campany.

The place is once called “bakkong” which means “dipper.” As the years went by people modified it to “Bakun”. Bakun, Benguet is 108 kilometers away fr. Baguio city. It takes 4-6 hours by bus to reach the town. The main source of their livelihood is farming. Most of their crops are highland vegetables and rice. The place is surrounded by high towering mountain peaks. Bakun is abounding with natural resources and breath-taking sceneries.

Update: Now, James Tianzon & Joel Padilla (newly sent missionary) are partners in bringing Kankanaeys to Jesus' feet.
